Mindfulness and compassion teaches us to be more present in the moment to be able to experience life more fully and more calmly, with a little more warmth and wisdom to help ourselves and others. Today's challenge is the pace at which we are expected to live our lives, and the extent to which we are easily distracted. This existence can be quite hectic, clouding our minds and our better judgement and bringing tension into the body. Mindfulness practices have for centuries offered the opportunity to embrace stillness, which hones a sensitivity in our nature, giving us time to see more clearly with a deeper understanding, so that we can learn to respond rather than react. Such responses can help us to make better decisions that serve us well and positively support our own health and well being.
Mindfulness can also influence our relationships with others more positively. As a mother, it has really helped me become aware of how important my role as a parent is and enhanced my relationship with my family. The ability to connect with my children on this deep level and see life through their eyes has brought me more joy than I could ever imagine. For this reason I have also developed The Mindful Parent Programme which looks to raise our awareness to the quality of our attention as a parent, to our level of discernment, to our acceptance of a our children just as they are, and of our interconnection. This course is structured over 6 weeks and offers both formal and informal practices to be able to embody mindfulness and compassion.
