Every now and again most of us benefit from periods of solitude, yet we struggle with the concept for fear of feeling lonely and running from silence at every opportunity. However, it is during periods of savoured solitude that we can truly get to know ourselves better, and feelings of loneliness lessening when one cultivates the patience to be absorbingly attentive.
It is during one to one sessions that space for this quieter work can be fully embraced, and is the reason why yoga was traditionally taught in this way. Whilst the essence of every living thing shares the same vital source, the manifestation of this life force in each of us varies vastly from person to person. And working on an individual basis enables the yoga practices to be specific to one’s character, whether we acknowledge our disposition from the outset or whether this is something we are still to discover.
